welcome to :

Willow Rose is one of the few breeders in the northeast
specializing in the gorgeous colors of blue, liver, and
chocolate, and have been doing so for many years.
We are one of the two "original" breeders in our state raising these colors.
It is very unfortunate that these colors have become overly
popular and mass produced - whether it is obtained
by buying lesser quality dogs, or studding their males to everyone
(a common practice by many) just to get "it". When buying one of these non
traditional colors, or any color, make sure what you are buying!!
If you are told it is "rare"...RUN!!
That said, we continue to raise tzus with these colors,
as well as all of our babies with the same idea that we have had for 25 years (15 tzu specific)...
that it is "quality not quantity."
We also prefer to hold back our own babies, and to show!!
IT IS DONE!!

Welcome to Willow Rose Shih Tzu. Please browse the site, you may find many of the answers to questions you have. Feel free to email anytime, I check email throughout the day. I also accept phone calls from 8 am - 10 pm, eastern time. Many times the phone is not answered, due to taking out the babies, feeding times, and so on, and frankly, I am just not fast enough anymore. Feel free to leave a message on the voice mail and I will get back with you in a very timely manner. Please unrestrict your number before calling. This helps both you and I when answering machines get cut off. Many times I will not answer "Restricted" calls.

We have made the decision to now microchip all of our babies before they go to their new homes. We use Avid. There is no additional cost for your baby to be micro-chipped, this is an extra service we provide to all of our puppy parents because we feel very strongly about it. If you have questions or concerns about this, feel free to contact us for more information.

Advantages of Microchips: Can't get lost like a collar Can't be worn off or removed like a tattoo Can lead to all of the necessary information about the dog (even preferred food), its owners, breeder, emergency contact and information can be changed readily. Insertion is less traumatic than a tattoo. Being used much more frequently than tattoos, according to some vets. Shelter staff prefer chips -- fast, accurate and hands off ; there is some risk in checking flank tattoos of large, frightened, potentially aggressive dogs.

We are in excellent standing with the AKC, inspected and approved. Our furbabies are always AKC registered, first and foremost. We do not register my litters with any registry other than AKC. AKC is the "oldest and most respected" registry still today. AKC registers only purebreds and never "mutts", "crosses", or "designer dogs". Those who believe in the AKC standards and follow them strictly will never offer anything other than a pure bred dog. We are members of the ASPCA, IDAUSA, and the Coalition Against Misery (see link on bad breeders page), DEN, and Defenders of Wildlife, amongst many others. We are members of local dog club, DONKC, which I hold the position of secretary in, as well as obedience/rally chair, pet fair chair, and Rose is a board membr as well as the treasurer and the SCDC, which I am a founding member. I am also the member of a UKC group, Empire State Dog Club, as a charter member. We support our local animal shelter - donating many items to them, toys, blankets, food and so on, along with a yearly contribution from my family. We are volunteers for the Furbaby Rescue, and do both fostering and transports when asked or needed. We also help out local rescues with donated items/fostering, when asked or needed. We believe very highly in rescue, and support it what ever we can. As the old saying goes...if you cannot rescue, do not breed.
I am also a tester for the AKC Canine Good Citizen and also an AKC Canine Ambassador, as well as leader of the 4H dog Program.

All of the puppies are sold on a spay neuter contract unless alternate arrangements have been made, which is not a usual practice. I prefer to place all babies on spay/neuter contract, and do so 99 % of the time. Deposits placed on an unborn or born litter are not refundable, the only exceptions are if there is no litter from a specified female, or if there were not as many pups as expected. If the latter two are the case, I will notify you and we will go from there. Otherwise, there are no refunds.

Legal info: Reproducing someone's copyrighted work or trademark without their permission is known as infringement, and it leaves you vulnerable to lawsuits from the copyright or trademark owner. Lawsuits are even more likely if you stand to make any money off the use, in any way. You may not freely use someone else's work simply because it has been posted on the Internet (a popular fallacy). Whether you find the material online or off, permission is generally needed to reproduce text, artwork, photos and music. You may not freely use someone else's work because it lacks a copyright or trademark notice (another fallacy). As a general rule, any original work -- whether text, visual art, photos or music -- is protected by copyright law, which means that you may not reproduce it without permission from the copyright owner. Giving credit or thanks to the copyright owner does not change that; you are not allowed to reprint (or distribute, adapt, perform or sell) the work without the owner's authorization.
*Basically, if you steal, copy or borrow anything from this site, pictures, partial pictures, ANYTHING, for any reason, legal action will be taken, and all proceedings will be held in my county of residence*
