Deposit and Puppy Information

Thanks for visiting! I am making this page to help understand how deposits and waiting lists work. Feel free to read through, and if you have any questions, please email or call me. If you are considering adding a Willow Rose Bud to your family, please first fill out the easy questionairre form so that I may better help you!  I do not mean this to sound harsh, rather straight to the point. These are issues and questions that have come up in previous years, and this seems the best way to address them, on one page, all together.

If you see something that interests you, you can request to be put on a notification list. If you do not specify who you are interested in, you will be notified for whatever litter comes first. If you want to be notified again after that, you must recontact me. I notify people on the wait lists when I have confirmed a pregnancy. This will not guarantee you a puppy.

I also have what I call a puppy placement deposit list. I will  take deposits on most unborn litters - I believe strongly in planned puppyhood.  You must first send me the form, and be approved, then I will notify you, and you may place a deposit if a particular mating interests you. YOU MUST NOTIFY ME FIRST, and must be approved - please do not send  a deposit with out an ok. I take few deposits on our litters, and it is first come, first pick per litter policy. If you are very specific in your requests (sex/color), understand that I cannot guarantee what the ladies will have, so do keep that in mind. A deposit on an unborn litter is $75.00. I will add your name to a list. Those who have made deposits will be notified first of a litter's arrival. You will then have a few days to choose your pup. Remember, there are others on the list, too. If you cannot choose a pup in the time given, or are undecided, you can choose to move your place in line, or wait for another litter. Upon choosing your pup, you will be required to make a second $125.00 deposit . Unfortunately, NY state residents must pay tax.  I do this so those putting a deposit on an unborn litter are not out a huge amount all at once. *Please do not send a deposit on "a pup". I must make mention, as this has happened before - if you are waiting on litter a, and someone makes the first deposit on litter b. Litter a comes, and nothing strikes your fancy, and you want to roll over to litter b., you will get the next open placement, not necessarily the first spot, or first pick. I must try and be fair to everyone.

Roll Over Policy -  I use what is called a roll over policy.  As deposits are non refundable - if a litter is born and you have deposited - nothing in the litter is of interest to you... we will allow you to roll over your deposit to another litter (please see notes above in reference to placements).  If you have all ready chosen a puppy, and as you watch it grow - if for some reason you do like how your baby is maturing, we allow the same policy - but I ask that you notify me asap if this is the case.  However, if you have made a deposit, picked a pup, and decided you no longer want a pup at all - as stated - there are no refunds, and you agree to forfit your depsoit.  The roll over policy is good for 1 year - starting from the date you initially deposited.  I will contact you with our new litters, but you in turn must stay in contact with me as well.  If after a year, you still have not chosen your pup - your agree to forfit your deposit, unless alternate arrangements are made.

NOTE OF INTEREST **Prices will be set after a litter is born, and sometimes  pricing will take up to 2 weeks.  I will give you an estimated cost of what that litter may be, low end to high end, if you request, but I will not quote exact prices.  At one point, I had tried this, and it simply did not work.  There is a protocol for pricing located on the FAQ, so you may see what I base it on.  Prices on a whole will range between 600- 1500.  They will not be higher on our own bred pups, than these posted amounts.**  Unfortunately, NY state residents must pay tax.

When puppies are born, and there have been no deposits made, or there were more pups than deposits, they will placed on the site, and will be available on a first deposit, first choice basis. A deposit on born pups is 200.00 to hold. I will allow 3 business days for a deposit to come.

What you need to know:

All pups are placed on a spay/neuter contract, and have limited AKC registration. Plain and simple, no exceptions, please do not ask. I have attempted to place pups in breeding/show homes in the past and it has never worked to our satisfaction. Therefore, I choose to sell our furbabies to pet homes only.  Please make sure to read the contract and that you understand it.  If you have any questions, ask.  You will be asked on your pick up day to sign the contract - the same contract that is online.  You will be given the signed copy in your puppy Pak, I will retain the original.

Deposits and what you need to know :

Please note that I do allow visitors to my home to meet the dogs, my family, or see to where I am.  I will NOT allow visitors when I have a lady in waiting or a litter. For those getting a new fur bundle, I understand that you may be excited and would love to come and meet your new baby. You must understand, when born, Shih Tzu can be as small as an ounce. You need to know that you can carry diseases with you on your feet/hands, etc. that you may be unaware of. Many people do not know that. Therefore, in order to obtain extreme sanitation and without putting any of the  precious fur bundles in harms way - no visitors at these times. PLEASE DO NOT ASK. When you buy a pup from me, I am here for their life, not just for the sale. I have excellent recommendations, and have a few babies from previous litters right near me, as well as in my home. Many times I am asked if people can come here and let their pup choose them. I have to say, going from large breeds to small breeds - large breeds I would agree with this to a point- a pup may choose you, small breeds, not a shih tzu. New babies are socialized with dogs (big and small), cats, kids, and different looking adults. They are used to quiet, noise, being touched, held, kissed and of course, loved.  By all means if there is  babies available at 8 weeks or after, you can come and choose a pup. Otherwise, no. You have to put your trust in me as a responsible breeder. More and more breeders, who do not all ready have this type of policy in place, are doing so. Check around. If you absolutely have to see your pup personally before the 8 weeks, and cannot fathom the thought of not personally seeing them and choosing "the one", then this just may not be the place for you. There are no exceptions.  My babies health is more important than a "sale".

I update the puppies pictures every week, from birth to the 8th week, usually by Monday morning, unless I am really slow. This is quite a task, so bear with me. Most breeders will not and do not do this. I put the pictures directly on the site, and do not send them in a personal email. I also add on the site a short video clip of your pup for your viewing pleasure around 7/8 weeks. You will get a personalized laser engraved cd loaded with your pups litter pictures from birth on, including the parents, so do not worry that you cannot take them from the site, or they are not in your email. I will however, answer any and all questions about your baby at any time, or anything else for that matter.

I do not guarantee size or color or our puppies. My best guess is based on the parents size and what their lines have produced, and previous puppies. I do not specifically breed for the tiny type, but it happens. The ranges in weights have been 3.5 - 15, but most pups average 7-12 lbs.

Your pups are vet checked before they go home. They will have a health certificate. Your pup will have been dewormed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will have begun pad training/litter box training.  I do not guarantee your pup is fully potty trained, and of course in a new surrounding there will be accidents, but I start them on pads when they begin eating on their own.  Thus far, I have had some wonderful success.  Consistency is the key, though.  I, many times, have gotten ("purchased") pups that had no clue, about pads, paper or otherwise.  This is just one thing I like to do to help your baby's move from my home to yours, and helps make it a bit easier on you, too.  We attempt to do things with our babies that we saw other "breeders" were not doing.

I will let you know when your pup can be picked up. I know when they are ready better than anyone else :o) Normally the pups are ready shortly after 8 weeks, not always the case, but mostly. Please do not attempt to make your own arrangements.  Pick up is done on my schedule, all though I will work with you to the best of my ability.  **If you cannot make the pick up day, I will make alternate arrangements**  Please note though, there is a 10.00 a week fee for holding your puppy - as the pick up date is set in advance with plenty of notice. **

When you leave here with your new baby, I will give you a handmade bag full of goodies! It will contain food, both wet and dry, an information booklet, a picture cd, coupons, shot record, avid microchip information, health certificate, toys, treats, some grooming items, an adoption certificate, and a pedigree with your babies picture on it. And, as previously stated, a copy of the contract.  Sometimes my kids make things for the babies, too :o) so if you find a little gift in there, know where it came from.

*WHAT I NEED TO SAY*

I reserve the right to refuse a sale of one of my babies to anyone at anytime. I also reserve the right to revoke a sale of one of our babies at anytime when I feel that the adoption is not in the puppy's best interest. If this comes to be the case after money has been put down, all of your money will be refunded. I base my decisions on many factors.  I do not sell to puppy mills, pet shops or brokers.  These are MY babies, I am responsible for them, and I planned them into this world. I do not sell my babies because I have to. And I will not just sell my babies to anyone. Though I have questionnaires, I feel it best that I also speak to you on the phone or in person, before you get your baby. I have found more times than not, when people are not sitting at their computers thinking about what to say, the mouth speaks before the brain thinks!

Please be honest, and do not tell me what you think I want to hear.

An example of why I added the last statement:

Here is one such letter of someone who did not appreciate my questionairre, specifically the "pet as a gift" and "where the dog will be" questions. I denied her for a pup for obvious reasons. I am asking all the right questions...

The letter to me:

Thanks for your time and consideration. Just a suggestion: maybe in the future you should look into questions that don't seem to be answered correctly by people. The pet is meant to be a gift, but it isn't a surprise: the topic of getting a new Shih Tzu had been discussed. As for being tied up, we have an elaborate system consisting of a rope tied to a tree half an acre away and connected to the house. From that rope is another rope that is 30 feet long with a clasp on it to that can attach to a collar. This allows the dog full reign of the back yard in keeping so that it doesn't run into the front yard and get hit by a car. If this doesn't fit with your conditions a Shih Tzu should live in I'm sorry. The veterinarian at our veterinary hospital would tend to disagree with you considering we kept our last dog alive a year longer than they expected because my father quit his job and stayed home with him to hand feed him and give im medicine as necessary throughout the day. Have a good day and sorry to waste yo time.  (end of letter)

I am not saying a puppy should not be a gift, but I am saying all parties should be in agreement and realize the responsibility of a puppy. They are for life, and not just Christmas, birthdays, and holidays. I do strongly believe, however, that a shih tzu should never be tied up, and use of a rope, by no means, is elaborate.

What you need to know:

What do you need right away for your new baby? I recommend puppy pads and a bed (a rounded cat bed with the lamb skin type material inside is a wonderful choice). I provide you with food, so you can see what they are on, and then go out and get some after you have your baby home and settled. Keep your puppy inside for the first 2 weeks that you have him/her, and do not place them on the ground in an outdoor setting in those 2 weeks.  Even if your preference is for the pup to use the outdoors, continue with the pad until for those 2 weeks.  Your puppy has been on the pad since appx. 3 weeks, and has also been given the first pup shot and have been microchipped.  When taking them to vet. exam, keep them off the floor and away from other animals. Their immunities are down from shots, and their systems can take up to 2 weeks to recover. I highly recommend that, even though you want to show off your newbie, wait 2 weeks before introducing them around.   I, of course, am here at any time to help aid you in your training, with your new baby, what ever you may need.  I am here for the life your baby.  When you take your baby home, our relationship with you does not end.  I  do not think of those new puppy parents as customers...just as "extended family".  I enjoy updates and pictures.

**Personal checks and paypal are okay for the first $200.00 of the purchase price, but please speak with me first and let me know you if will be sending a check, or using paypal, to which a 3.5 % must be added on, if not, it will be applied to your final balance.  Balances, must be paid by the 6th -7th week of the puppy's life as we feel by this time you are happy with your decision.  I do send out a notification to you.  If you decide after pup is 4 weeks old that you no longer like the pup you have chosen, there is a fee of 25.00 charged for relisting.  This applies to those who have reserved the puppy before 4 weeks ONLY.   If not paid by the 6-7 week mark or the date that I have provided,  you risk losing your pup and deposit, and payment can be made with cash, paypal (must let me know first, and you must add fees), credit card or money order ONLY .  Please do not try and pay balances with a check, they simply will not be accepted any longer.  Your check will be returned to you. Cashiers checks are no longer accepted, due to all of the fake checks flying around. Deposits are non refundable, so please be sure you are serious about the purchase prior to sending one.  **Please note, paypal carries a fee of 3.5% and credit cards 4%.  Buyer is responsible for fees occured**
